Clemmons, NC 27012-8613 Telephone: (336) 766-2913 Fax: (336) 766- 2914 tendon Steel CoTRarr - North Carolina Storm water inspection report The North Carolina NPDES Stormwatel`-Discharge Permit for Lyndon Steel requires serni- annual inspections of the plant's storm water management systems. On October 4, 2017 inspected the plant, conducted an inventory of significant exposed materials and performed visual monitoring of storm water. Several photographs relevant to the inspection are included in this report. Because Winston Steel and Stair is using a portion of this property for their operations, their location was also inspected. Applicable photographs are included. As the main property owner, Lyndon Steel is responsible for any storm water issues at this Winston Steel and Stair location unless a separate NPDES permit is given for this part of the property. if both , companies have the same parent company / owner, one NPDES permit will cover this property, The findings and recommendations of this inspection are summarized as follows: Lyndon Steel • Both of the ASTs and their respective containment areas were in good condition and did not exhibit any obvious signs of leakage (Photo 1). • The outside drum storage areas appear to be in good condition. Containment appears to be intact, with no obvious signs of leakage (Photos 2a-2c). The empty drum storage area does not show signs of residual product leaks (Photo 2d). • The dust collector unit was clean and did not show signs of damage or leaks (Photo 3). • Drums in the painting area were observed to have closed lids when not in use (Photo 4a). Some damage was noted in the spill pallet in this area (Photo 4b). OEI recommends that the spill pallet be replaced in the near future. • Several storm drains observed onsite did not show obvious signs of foam or oil sheen (Photos 5a-5d). • Drainage, outfall and nearby areas did not show obvious signs of pollution (Photos 6a- 6d). • Personnel should be reminded to check that materials stored outside do not have any oily or chemical residue (Photos 7a-7f). • There was no rain on the day of inspection. The facility had normal outside production storage. There were no obvious signs of pollution (Photos 8a-8g). October 2017 Page 1 U Lyndon Steel Company - North Carolina Storm water inspection report Winston Steel and Stair • Outside chemical storage areas — the AST and new shed — have intact containment, with no leaks or cracks (Photos 9a-9c). Personnel should be reminded that this storage should be kept locked when not in use. • Chemical bulk containers should be kept in this covered area -(Photo 10). The'containers should be checked regularly for leaks that could migrate past the roofline. • The overall facility has the same standard storage conditions. Other outside storage at thefacility should be checked to ensure that these materials do not have any oily or chemical residue (Photos 11a-11h). This report should be filed with the plant's copy of the Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan. This documentation must be retained onsite for a period of five (5) years and made available to the Director of the Division of Environmental Management or his/her authorized representative upon request.
