This did not provide the 72 hours of separation needed to perform sampling. Please be advised that we are continually striving to abide by all conditions of our Stormwater Permits. For permit NCG030255 the Copper and Zinc levels in outfalls 1 and 3 are above the benchmarks however; a letter of relief for Copper and Zinc was sent to us by Zahid S. Khan on January 7, 2015. Also please note the pH level for permit NCS000018 was below the benchmark. The pH reading for Outfall #6 was 5.6. A sample containing just rain water was also taken at the time of the rain event and the pH reading of the rain was 5.3. If you have any questions please feel free to contact Mark Beaver of J. C. SW U-264-Generic-25May2010 2014 Summary Annual Summary Data Monitoring Report (Additional Notes) Outfall No. 4 (flows to outfall number 6) The water flow at outfall number 4 was diverted to outfall number 6 in February of 2013. The water now flows through a trench, then through a ditch filled with racks and then through a section of grass before reaching outfall number 6. During light rains or days it rains on and off, this gives the water time to soak into the ground and the grass acts as a filter to any water making it to outfall number 6 during heavier rains. Outfall number 4 no longer exists as the water flowing from this area flows to and is sampled at outfall number 6. Outfall No. 5 In April of 2013 the water flow at outfall number 5 was directed to a pit filled with stone. Since doing this the water has never reached the outfall's discharge point. • March 2013 through December 2013 was no -flow months. The water has never reached the outfall's discharge point. • January 2014 through December 2014 was no -flow months. The water has never reached the outfall's discharge point. Outfall No. 6 • January — Stormwater sample 1/2/2014. • February through April — were months where it either rained when the plant was closed or the amount of rain, or time between rains didn't fall within the permit monitoring requirements. Rain gauge observation log sheets were sent each month to this department to document rain events. • May — Stormwater sample 5/15/2014. • June - it either rained when the plant was closed or the amount of rain, or time between rains didn't fall within the permit monitoring requirements. Rain gauge observation log sheets were sent each month to this department to document rain events. • July — Stormwater sample 7/15/2014. • August — There were enough consecutive samples below the benchmark to go back to semi-annual sampling. The water now flows through a trench,.then through a ditch filled with rocks and then through a section of grass before reaching outfall number 6. During light rains or days it rains on and off, this gives the water time to soak into the ground and the grass acts as a filter to any water making it to outfall number 6 during heavier rains. • January through May was no -flow months. These were months where it either rained when the plant was closed or the rain was light and the flow didn't reach outfall 6. • June —Stormwater sample 6/10/13 • July through December were months where it either rained when the plant was closed or the rain was light and the flow didn't reach outfall 6. Outfall No. 5 (Tier Two) In April of 2013 the water flow at outfall number 5 was directed to a pit filled with stone. Since doing this the water has never reached the outfall's discharge point. • February— Stormwater sample 2/7/13. • March through December was no -flow months. These were months where it either rained when the plant was closed or the flow never made it to the outfalI's discharge point. Outfall No. 6 • February — Stormwater sample 2/7/13. July through December were months where it either rained when the plant was closed or the amount of rain, or time between rains didn't fall within the permit monitoring requirements. Rain gauge observation log sheets were sent each month to this department to document rain.events. MULBERRY TOLL FREE (800) 278-3353 RECEIVED DIVISION OF VVATFR QUALITY JUN 0 7 2013 S M0ORESVIL.,_,_;j_,%L OFFICE As a Company striving to meet the requirements set forth by the Division of Water Quality; we continue to seek ways of meeting the benchmarks set forth in our permit. As stated in our last letter dated April 3, 2013; J.C. Steele & Sons, Inc. would send a letter updating you on our efforts and the change to outfall #4 once the Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan was updated. Please see the items listed below. + Outfall #4 — The water flow at this outfall has been diverted to outfall #6. A trench was placed across the driveway diverting the water to outfall #6. The water flows through the trench to a ditch filled with rocks and then through a section of grass before reaching outfall #6. We are also using.hay bales to help slow down and filter the solids before the water reaches the outfall. Outfall #4 is no longer a point source for collecting water. There are days during lite rain events the water from outfall #4 never makes it to outfall #6 because it soaks into the ground before reaching outfall #6. • Outfall #5 —The water flow at this outfall has been directed to a pit filled with stone. Our intentions are to help slow the flow and let the solids settle before reaching the outfall point. Since doing this there has been no water flow to the outfall #S. The water has soaked into the ground and the pit has never filled up enough to flow to the outfall point even in the heaviest rain. We are continuing'to look at ways to improve these outfalls and others here at our facility. Please review the updated map showing the diverted flow at outfall #4 now going to outfall #6. Should you have any questions or require additional information, please contact Mark Beaver at our facility by telephone at 704-768-3220 or by email at mbeaver@icsteele.com. r ly, David S.
