HomeMy WebLinkAboutNC0004979_Special Order By Consent_20180918 dos DUKE ENERGY® September 18, 2018 Mr.Jeff Poupart, Section Chief NC DWR Permitting Section 1617 Mail Service Center RECEIVED/DENR/DWR Raleigh,NC 27699-1617 SEP 2 4 2018 Subject: Temp Construction Dewatering-Completion Water Resources Marshall Steam Station Permitting Section NC0004979 Catawba County Dear Mr. Poupart: This letter is in reference to both the November 13,2017 and December 12, 2017 letters from Shannon Langley of Duke Energy regarding construction projects in order to comply with requirements of North Carolina Coal Ash Management Act(CAMA), specifically redirecting wastewaters from the ash basin. A temporary construction dewatering well network was installed to lower the groundwater table in order to construct the lined retention basin for the site's overall water redirect project. Construction dewatering for both the east and west coal basins was completed on September 10, 2018. The dewatering equipment will be disassembled and removed from the site. These dewatering wells will be abandoned per 15A NCAC 02C.0113 and well abandonment records will be submitted as required per 15A NCAC 02C.0114.
