MAR 1 6 2018 Allen Steam Station Permit#: NC0004979 Water Resources Gaston County Permuting Section Dear Dr. Chernikov, Duke Energy Carolinas, LLC (Duke) submits the following updated information in reference to AOW S-10, contrary to details in the November 29, 2017 Allen Steam Station NPDES Wastewater Permit Application Update. We request an update in AOW S-10 designation as an engineered feature due to the configuration of the French drain conveyance system currently in operation. The system originates at the North Dike of Cell 1, collecting seepage from the North Dike toe, terminating at the concrete vault at the head of an existing drainage channel, and ultimately collected and pumped back to Cell 1. Please find a copy included of the previously submitted drawings depicting the engineered feature. On February 8th, a DEQ staff member photographed the engineered feature and can provide copies. Duke Energy requests that S-10 be included in the permit as it is an engineered featured. Should you have any questions regarding this letter or require additional information, please contact Ms. Elizabeth Glenn at (980) 373-0530 or at elizabeth.glenn@duke-energy.com. "I certify, under penalty of law, that this document and all attachments were prepared under my direction or supervision in accordance with a system designed to assure that qualified personnel properly gather and evaluate the information submitted.
