Upcoming General Permit Renewal
Public Comment Notification
Harnett County
Dear NPDES Permittee:
The NPDES Industrial Stormwater Program at NC DEQ is preparing for the renewal of the
following General Permits:
NCG020000: Active and Inactive Mining Sites
NCG190000: Active and Inactive Marinas and Ship and Boat Building and Repairing Facilities
The public comment period for these permit renewals runs from May 15th through June 16th.
During that period, NC DEQ will accept comments on the Draft General Permits posted on our
Stormwater Public Notice Webpage .
We are targeting a July 1st, 2025, renewal date for the above-listed General Permits. Upon July
1st, all active Certificates of Coverage (COCs) of the above-listed General Permits will be
automatically renewed provided they have no outstanding fees. Permittees of the above-listed
General Permits should do the following to ensure a smooth renewal:
1. Certify all outstanding fees are paid. If there is still an outstanding balance on June
16, 2025 your COC may not be renewed. You can visit our Stormwater ePayments
site to check on any outstanding fees.
2. Update permit/contact data. Run the Permit Summary Report by typing in your COC
number. If any permit data (contact info, facility name, etc) needs updating, you can find
the necessary forms on the NPDES Industrial Webpage under the “How to Update
Permit Data” section.
3. Read through the draft General Permit and submit comments to NC DEQ Stormwater
Program.
Upon permit issuance, you should familiarize yourself with its contents.
Please see below on some common FAQs:
1. Question: Where should I send my comments on the draft General Permits?

2. Do I need to submit a new application?
