Public Notice; Water Quality Certification for Maintenance Dredging of Morehead City Harbor with Placement in the Nearshore Area; DWR #20250584 #v1; Morehead City, Carteret PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given that on April 24, 2025, John Policarpo and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Wilmington District (USACE) (69 Darlington Avenue, Wilmington, NC 28402) applied to the NC Division of Water Resources (DWR) for a 401 Individual Water Quality Certification, pursuant to Section 401 of the Federal Clean Water Act and Title 15A NCAC 02H .0500. The activity for which this certification is sought regards for the maintenance dredging of shoaled material within the Federal navigation channel in Morehead City Harbor with placement of beach quality dredged material in two nearshore placement areas. The DWR’s proposed date of final action on the application is June 5, 2025. Written comments on the application described above must be received by DWR no later than 5 p.m. on June 5, 2025. Written comments may be submitted online by filling out the Public Notice Comment Form here: https://edocs.deq.nc.gov/Forms/401_Public_Notice_Comments. Written comments may also be mailed to: 401 Permitting, 1617 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, NC, 27699- 1617. The application is available online. Information for accessing the application/ project information online may be found on the Public Notice - Individual Certifications for NWPs webpage: https://deq.nc.gov/about/divisions/water-resources/water-quality-permitting/401-buffer- permitting-branch/public-1. The application is also available at the Wilmington Regional Office of the DWR and may be inspected with an appointment between 8 am and 5 pm, Monday through Friday, excluding State holidays.
