HomeMy WebLinkAboutSW5240302_Stormwater Narrative_20240419 Siler City Asphalt Plant (formerly Mid-State Parcel Grading) PROJECT NARRATIVE The proposed project consists of the grading of a large, gently graded pad for the purpose of concrete and asphalt recycling. The project area is approximately 52.94 acres. A disturbed area of approximately 35.07 acres is planned for the erosion control and grading for this project. Currently the site is almost entirely clear with limited woodland to the east side of the property. That area consists of a mix of pines and hardwoods. Elevations range from 628 to 667 within the property. The site erosion control is presented in one phase with 3 stages illustrated. The erosion control has previously been approved with an updated submission made and subsequently approved. It includes the conversion of the basins to the wet ponds. No wetlands or streams are present in the work footprint. An environmental study was conducted, and the wetlands found have been shown on the plan. A minimum separation of 50' is proposed from the existing pond and wetlands within the project boundary and noted accordingly. A specific sequence of construction has been provided for proposed work. No roads are proposed as part of this project,only a gravel paved driveway. Stormwater management is provided for the high density portions of the project area. There are three drainage areas that are high density by definition, each with an SCM provided to provide water quality treatment. The soil types for this property are all Type D soils. The pad grade will mimic existing drainage patterns with measures installed to minimize the potential for rutting and rilling once groundcover is established. Piedmont Environmental has conducting the field tests for the SHWTs for each SCM location. That report is included in the submittal. Aric Geda, PE of Modulus, PLLC is preparing the appropriate documents for the NCG160000 Stormwater Management for the site in keeping with its use as an asphalt and concrete recycling plant.
