1. General Information
a. Project Name: NCNG Camp Butner Training Center BOM Yard Expansion
b. Address: 539 Roberts Chapel Road, Stem, NC 27509
c. Total Site Area: 24.01 Acres
d. Disturbed Area: 10.71 Acres
e. Wetland Area: There are 1.01 acres of wetlands in this site, but 0 acres are disturbed.
f. Ownership: North Carolina National Guard
g. Proposed Development: This project includes expanding the Bill of Materials (BOM)yard for
the North Carolina National Guard (NCNG) Camp Butner in Stem, NC. The wet pond is
developed to handle 4.47 acres of BUA. The site is located within the Neuse River/Falls
Lake Watershed.
As part of the modification to the stormwater permit, we are providing nutrient accounting to
bring the site into compliance with 15A NCAC 02B .0281. Approximately 13 acres of
protected forest has been added to the site area. This forest is part of the "Surface Danger
Zone" (SDZ)for the shooting Range 4 in Camp Butner. It is dangerous to occupy this zone,
and thus it will not be developed.
h. Phasing: This project will be completed in two phases using troop labor. The stormwater
application is for the entire project(both phases).
i. Existing Stormwater Permit: None.
j. NCDEQ Compliance Issues: None.
k. Water& Sewer Service: None.
I. Historic Sites: This site contains a historic homestead that is being protected by a 50-foot
buffer.
m. Public Funding: This project is being funded with public monies.
n. FEMA FIRM #3720086800 K, panel 0868K, dated April 16, 2007 indicates that the site is
outside the limits the 100 year flood plain.
o. Soils on the site consist of predominately Vance sandy loam (VaB)and Udorthents loamy
(Ud), which are identified as type C soils.
