310 residents. The Beachwood WWTP is a minor facility (flow < 1 MGD) with a design capacity and
permitted wastewater discharge of 0.10. The original NPDES permit for this facility was issued in February
1985. This facility utilizes the following treatment components:
• Two 300-gpm influent pumps
• 15,000-gallon equalization tank
• 125,000-gallon aeration tank
• 33,400-gallon clarifier
• 22,500-gallon sludge holding tank
• Three aeration blowers
• Ultraviolet disinfection unit
• Post -aeration
• Flow recorder
RENEWAL SUMMARY
This renewal contains the following changes:
• Added Neuse nutrient reopener condition for all Neuse River discharge permits to Part L A. (6).
• Updated eDMR language for electronic data submission in Part L A. (7).
COMPLIANCE HISTORY
Beachwood WWTP has had no enforcements since 2017. The facility has been issued six NOVs for BOD,
Fecal Coliform, and Ammonia Nitrogen limit violations in 2018 — 2022. The most recent inspection
(January 2023) showed the facility to be not in compliance with all rules and regulations; however, the
noncompliance did not require enforcement action. Specifically, the sludge blanket level was unacceptable
and only two of the three aeration tank blowers were operational during the inspection.
