NCO063029 I11 12I 23/06/13 117 18 i c i Section D: Summary of Finding/Comments (Attach additional sheets of narrative and checklists as necessary) A routine compliance inspection of the Camp Lejeune Advanced WWTP was conducted on June 13, 2023. The purpose of the evaluation was to verify that the facility is operating in compliance with the conditions and limitations specified in Permit NC0063029. Sonny Scozzari, Dan Straub and Travis Voorhees, along with many other plant staff, were present during the inspection. This facility is a Biological Nutrient Removal (BNR) wastewater treatment system that is permitted for a discharge up to 15 MGD to the New River, Class SC -NSW stream, in the White Oak River Basin. The plant averaged 4.76 MGD in April of this year. Records were well organized and complete and staff was very knowledgeable of plant operations. Many improvements have been made to this facility in last 2-3 years and more are planned for the near future. A new SCADA system has recently been installed which allows staff to better monitor the plant operation and the collection system. The permit modification to replace the 6 primary sludge diaphragm pumps with 3-6 inch diameter double disc pumps with VFD has been completed and are in operation. The latest permit modification request to add a new internal outfall, Outfall 002, to accommodate discharge from the PFAS treatment system is currently in draft form. The 2.38 MG sludge holding tank was down for repair during the inspection. Sludge thickener equipment has been rented to dewater the biosolids further for disposal at the landfill while the tank is being repaired. The facility is compliant with NPDES Permit NC0063029. Please review the comment sections of the inspection report for more details.
