The Dollar General project in Sneads Ferry, NC was completed and received its final Certificate of Occupancy from Onslow County on July 31, 2012. At that time, all erosion control measures were still in place and there were no offsite sedimentation issues or other erosion problems. The project was built during the summer months and all silt fence was left in place until proper ground cover and stabilization was established, which is often difficult to accomplish during the hot summer months. During the month of September, there was an above a significant amount of rain, more than 6". This amount of rain caused erosion in the rear and along the slopes of the site in certain places and the erosion control fence was pushed over creating the sedimentation issues. The material that breached the erosion control fence was removed on September 27-28, 2012. All slopes were stabilized with seed and erosion control matting, along with rip rap in selected areas. Soil in the wetlands areas was removed and repaired using shovels and buckets. A landscaper will be at the site this week to aerate and re -seed all landscape areas around the building to ensure the ground cover is established. Please see attached hereto, copies of pictures noting the work described above. Also, we have attached the monitoring logs for your review. If there are any questions, please let me know.
