The farm manager opened the valve to release rain water from secondary containment that was collected from rain event the day before. Around 11:00 am he cut the recirculation pump on and latter around 4:00pm to cut the valve off in the containment site. He discovered waste flowing from a broken line and waste in the containent site that was flowing out of the open valve. He cut off containment valve and the recirculation pump and contacted land management staff.Waste flowed to ditch that leads to unnamed tributary to Little Turn Bull Creek. 9. It was determined the waste came from the recycle line that was broken, the waste flowed to secondary containment as designed. This will need to be fixed as soon as possible. Land management staff began pumping waste from containmentarea back into lagoon. They brought in large pump with lay flat hose to connect to a hydrant in spray field next to Old Fayettville road where Little Turn Bull crosses under this road. This was documented with pictures. Mr. Cudd showed me the broken recycle line locationa and the path the waste flowed to the containment . waste was documented Page 1 of 6 Permit: AWS090129 Inspection Date: 01/27/23 Owner: Murphy -Brown LLC Facility Number: 090129 Inspection Type: Compliance Inspection Reason for Visit: Other with pictures in this ditch and continment site. Two pumps were pumping waste back to lagoon from containment site prior to my site visit. Mr. Cudd and I followed the flow of waste in the woods and found a location to set up more pumps to recover waste back to lagoon as additional recovery equipment arrived. They put 2 pumps in the laocation found in the woods, these small pumps recovered waste before it got to Little Turn Bull Creek. The large pump at Old Fayettville road was pumping waste back to lagoon by 8:30 pm in addition the other pumps were also running and putting waste back into lagoon. The large pump was sendng more than 500 gallons per minute back to lagoon all pumps will continue to run during the night. I went to Braxton Edge Road and did not see any visible waste where Turn Bull creek crosses it. Pictures were taken on collector to document this inspection It was reported the lagoon level was around 38 inches when this started I ovserved around 9:00pm it was around 37 inches No dead fish observed 34. will return in the monrng.
