GENERAL COMMENTS: The facility has all the equipment necessary to perform the analyses. Proficiency Testing (PT) samples have been analyzed for all certified parameters for the 2012 proficiency testing calendar year and the graded results were 100% acceptable Contracted analyses are performed by Environment 1, Inc. (Certification #10). Current quality assurance policies for Field Laboratories and the approved procedures for the analysis of the facility's currently certified parameters were provided at the time of the inspection. The aforementioned approved procedures have undergone revision since the inspection and contain new requirements. Current versions will be enclosed with the laboratory's 2013 certificate. Ill. FINDINGS REQUIREMENTS COMMENTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS: pH — Standard Methods, 4500-H+ B-2000 A. Finding: The laboratory is not verifying the calibration with a pH check standard buffer. Page 2 #5070 Harvest Time Foods B. Finding: The laboratory is not including units of measure for pH on laboratory benchsheets. Requirement: Data pertinent to each analysis must be maintained for five years. Certified Data must consist of date collected, time collected, sample site, sample collector, and sample analysis time. The field benchsheets must provide a space for the signature or initials of the analyst, and proper units of measure for all analyses. Ref: 15A NCAC 02H .0805 (g) (1). PAPER TRAIL INVESTIGATION: The paper trail consisted of comparing field testing records and contract lab reports to Monitoring Reports submitted to the Pitt County Dept. of Environmental Health. Data were reviewed for Harvest Time Foods (Pitt Co. permit # 13624-99) for June, July and August of 2012. No transcription errors were detected.
