During daily plant check on 8/4/2022 it was discovered that we had an Alum pump that had
failed. This pump was promptly ordered and replaced upon receipt. One other process item
that we believed to be a part of this exceedance, was a plugged alum feed line. We believe the
plugged Line caused the pump to deadhead and fail. During daily rounds in mid to late
September we found our alum lines had become plugged with residue or scale from years of
use. We looked for options to repair or replace the and found the quickest and most cost-
effective option to correct this issue was to move the injection point for the alum to an unused
Magnesium Hydroxide line and increased our carrier water flow rate to prevent future scaling.
