30 WORKING DAYS OR 120 CALENDAR DAYS, WHICHEVER IS SHORTER.
4. ADDITIONAL MEASURES TO CONTROL EROSION AND SEDIMENT MAY BE
REQUIRED BY A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE NCDENER DLQ ENGINEERING
DEPARTMENT.
5. SLOPES SHALL BE GRADED NO STEEPER THAN 3:1.
6. ADDITIONAL DEVICES MAY BE REQUIRED AS AGREED UPON BY THE
FIELD INSPECTOR, ENGINEER, AND OWNER.
7. IF ACTIVE CONSTRUCTION CEASES IN ANY AREA FOR MORE THAN 30
DAYS, ALL DISTURBED AREAS MUST BE SEEDED, MULCHED, AND TACKED
UNLESS WRITTEN APPROVAL IS GRANTED BY THE EROSION CONTROL
OFFICER.
8. FOLLOWING EVERY RAINFALL EVENT, CONTRACTOR SHALL INSPECT AND
REPAIR, AS NECESSARY, ALL DAMAGED EROSION CONTROL MEASURES.
EROSION CONTROL MAINTENANCE PLAN
1. ALL EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL PRACTICES WILL BE CHECKED FOR
STABILITY AND OPERATION FOLLOWING EVERY RUNOFF PRODUCING
RAINFALL BUT IN NO CASE LESS THAN ONCE EVERY WEEK. ANY NEEDED
REPAIRS WILL BE MADE IMMEDIATELY TO MAINTAIN ALL PRACTICES AS
DESIGNED.
2. THE SEDIMENT TRAPS SHALL BE CLEANED OUT WHEN 1/2 FULL. GRAVEL
WILL BE CLEANED OR REPLACED WHEN THE SEDIMENT POOL NO LONGER
DRAINS PROPERLY.
3. SEDIMENT WILL BE REMOVED FROM BEHIND THE SEDIMENT FENCE WHEN
IT BECOMES ABOUT 0.5 FEET DEEP AT THE FENCE. THE SEDIMENT
FENCE WILL BE REPAIRED OR REPLACED AS NECESSARY TO MAINTAIN A
BARRIER.
4. ALL AREAS WILL BE FERTILIZED, RESEEDED AS NECESSARY, AND
MULCHED ACCORDING TO SPECIFICATIONS IN THE VEGETATIVE PLAN TO
MAINTAIN A VIGOROUS, DENSE VEGETATIVE COVER.
5. GRAVEL CONSTRUCTION ENTRANCE TO BE CLEANED WHEN SEDIMENT
ACCUMULATIONS ARE VISIBLE OR SEDIMENT IS DEPOSITED ON THE
ASPHALT AND STONE WILL BE PERIODICALLY TOP DRESSED WITH 2
INCHES OF #4 STONE TO MAINTAIN 6 INCH DEPTH.
GRADING NOTES
1. INITIATE EROSION CONTROL SEQUENCE BEFORE BEGINNING CLEARING AND GRADING
OPERATIONS.
2. CLEAR AREAS TO BE GRADED OF ALL VEGETATION. PROTECT VEGETATION BEYOND
GRADING LIMITS.
3. STRIP TOPSOIL TO FULL DEPTH IN AREAS TO BE GRADED AND STOCKPILE.
4. COMPACT ALL FILL AREAS TO 95% STD. PROCTOR MAXIMUM DRY DENSITY.
5. ALL BANKS AND SWALE SIDE SLOPES SHALL BE GRADED WITH NO GREATER THAN
3:1 SLOPES.
6. ALL AREAS ARE TO BE GRADED SO THAT NO AREAS OF STANDING WATER OCCUR.
7. PROPOSED SPOT ELEVATIONS ARE SHOWN AT FINISHED GRADE.
8. OPERATOR SHALL FIELD VERIFY EXISTING TOPOGRAPHY IN RELATION TO THE
PROPOSED GRADES TO ENSURE DRAINAGE IN THE DIRECTIONS INDICATED ON THE
PLAN.
STAGE 1 CONSTRUC110N SEQUENCE
1. ESTABLISH LIMITS OF CONSTRUCTION.
2. INSTALL SILT FENCE INLET PROTECTION.
3. INSTALL GRAVEL CONSTRUCTION ENTRANCES AS SHOWN ON
PLANS. CONTRACTOR SHALL MAINTAIN A SUFFICIENT GRAVEL
ENTRANCE UNTIL FINAL SUBGRADE IS ESTABLISHED. IF DIRT/MUD
ON THE ROAD BECOMES AND ISSUE, THEN A WASHRACK WILL NEED
TO BE INSTALLED.
4. BEGIN CLEARING AND GRUBBING WITHIN LIMITS.
5. INSTALL TEMPORARY SEDIMENT BASIN WITH BAFFLES(3) AND
SKIMMER, TEMPORARY DIVERSION DITCHES, AND TEMPORARY
SEEDING. TEMPORARY DIVERSION DITCHES WILL BE LINED WITH SOD.
PERMANENT POND WILL ACT TEMPORARY SEDIMENT BASIN. ATTACH
SKIMMER TO OVERFLOW RISER STRUCTURE.
6. STRIP 6" OF TOPSOIL
STAGE 2 CONSTRUCTION SEQUENCE
1. INSTALL PROPOSED STORM DRAINAGE SYSTEM.
2. INSTALL SILT FENCE INLET PROTECTION.
3. ONCE ROADWAYS ARE RAVED, REMOVE SILT FENCE INLET
PROTECTION AND INSTALL BLOCK & GRAVEL INLET PROTECTION.
SILT FENCE INLTET PROTECTION FOR CATCH BASIN IN FUTURE
PHASES WILL REMAIN IN PLACE UNTIL FURTHER NCDENR EROSION
CONTROL PERMIT IS OBTAINED.
4. INSTALL RIPRAP APRONS.
5. INSTALL PERMANENT SEEDING.
6. TEMPORARY SEDIMENT BASIN MUST REMAIN INSTALLED AND
FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. THE TEMPORARY SEDIMENT BASIN WILL BE
UTILIZED IN PHASE 1. EROSION CONTROL DEVICES SUCH AS SILT
FENCE AND TEMPORARY SEDIMENT BASIN MUST REMAIN INSTALLED
AND FUNCTIONING PROPERLY UNTIL THE DRAINAGE AREA HAS BEEN
PERMANENTLY STABILIZED.

4. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY TOWN OF LELAND AND BRUNSWICK COUNTY WATER AND
SEWER DISTRICT AT LEAST TWO (2) WEEKS PRIOR TO THE START OF CONSTRUCTION AND
SHALL COORDINATE ALL CONSTRUCTION PHASES WITH THEM.
5. ALL MATERIALS AND METHODS OF CONSTRUCTION SHALL CONFORM TO THE DRAWINGS,
PROJECT SPECIFICATIONS, AND LOCAL BUILDING CODES.
6. ALL DISTURBED AREAS SHALL BE SMOOTHLY GRADED TO PROMOTE POSITIVE DRAINAGE
AND STABILIZED WITH TOPSOIL, SEED, AND MULCH. IF SETTLEMENT OCCURS, TOPSOIL, SEEDING,
AND MULCH SHALL BE REPEATED UNTIL SETTLEMENT SUBSIDES. (SEE EROSION AND SEDIMENT
CONTROL DETAILS AND SPECIFICATIONS.)
7. WATER MAINS WILL BE INSTALLED AT A DEPTH THAT WILL PROVIDE 36" COVER OVER THE
PIPES BELOW PROPOSED GRADE UNLESS SHOWN OTHERWISE ON THESE PLANS OR DIRECTED
OTHERWISE BY THE ENGINEER.
8. WHEREVER SEWER OR WATER MAINS CROSS ONE ANOTHER, A MINIMUM VERTICAL
CLEARANCE OF 18" SHALL BE PROVIDED BETWEEN THE BOTTOM OF THE WATER PIPE AND THE
TOP OF THE SEWER PIPE.
9. WHEREVER SEWER OR WATER MAINS RUN PARALLEL TO EACH OTHER, A MINIMUM
HORIZONTAL SEPARATION OF 10' SHALL BE PROVIDED, OR 18" VERTICAL SEPARATION
IF NEITHER OF THESE CONDITIONS CAN BE MET, THEN THE SEWER SHALL BE CLASS 50 DIP,
MINIMUM OF 50 LF CENTERED OVER THE CROSSING.
10. ALL WATER VALVES, BOXES, AND FIRE HYDRANT ASSEMBLES SHALL BE SET AND
ADJUSTED TO FINISHED GRADE.
11. THE OWNER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ACQUISITION OF ALL EASEMENTS, BOTH TEMPORARY
AND PERMANENT.

2. THE ENGINEER AND THE CONTRACTOR SHALL INSPECT ALL EXISTING PIPES USED IN THE FINAL

THE PLACEMENT OF EMBANKMENT OR TOPSOIL.
6. ALL STORM DRAINAGE PIPES SHALL BE RCP CLASS III UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED ON THE PLANS.
7. THE CONTRACTOR IS SOLELY RESPONSIBLE TO OBTAIN OFF -SITE SPOIL AREAS FOR DISPOSAL OF
EXCESS AND/OR UNSUITABLE MATERIALS AS NECESSARY. OFF -SITE SPOIL AREAS MUST BE
SUBMITTED TO THE ENGINEER FOR REVIEW AND APPROVAL BY APPLICABLE REGULATORY AGENCIES
AND PRIOR TO UTILIZATION BY THE CONTRACTOR. NO AREAS DESIGNATED AS WETLANDS WILL BE
PERMITTED FOR USE AS A DISPOSAL SITE. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SUBMIT DOCUMENTATION TO THE

11. DO NOT PLANT TREES OVER WATER MAINS, SEWER MAINS OR WITHIN THEIR EASEMENTS.
12. DEWATERING: THE CONTRACTOR SHALL AT ALL TIMES PROVIDE AND MAINTAIN AMPLE MEANS AND
