® THE TEMPORARY WATERWAY CROSSING WILL BE AT RIGHT ANGLES TO THE STREAM. WHERE
1.
ALL EROSION CONTROL MEASURES SHALL BE IN STRICT ACCORDANCE WITH LOCAL AND STATE
APPROACH CONDITIONS DICTATE, THE CROSSING MAY VARY 15 DEGREES FROM A LINE DRAWN
STANDARDS -SPECIFICALLY THE NC EROSION & SEDIMENT CONTROL MANUAL AND ORDINANCES.
PERPENDICULAR TO THE CENTER LINE OF THE STREAM AT THE INTENDED CROSSING LOCATION.
2.
ALL DISTURBED AREAS SHALL BE STABILIZED AT THE END OF EACH WORKDAY.
® SPAN BRIDGES MAY BE INSTALLED AND USED WHERE NEEDED TO ALLOW EQUIPMENT ACCESS ACROSS

THE CONTRACTOR SHALL DILIGENTLY AND CONTINUOUSLY MAINTAIN ALL EROSION CONTROL BMPs AND
WATERBODIES. SPAN BRIDGES WILL BE ABLE TO WITHSTAND THE ANTICIPATED LOADING OF THE
STRUCTURES TO ENSURE DEVICES ARE FUNCTIONING PROPERLY TO MINIMIZE EROSION AND SEDIMENT
CONSTRUCTION TRAFFIC, HAVE ONE TRAFFIC LANE, AND HAVE THE MINIMUM WIDTH OF 7 FEET WITH A
TRANSFER.
MAXIMUM O F 14 FEET.

ADDITIONAL EROSION CONTROL DEVICES MAY BE REQUIRED DUE TO FIELD CONDITIONS INCLUDING THE USE OF

DUKE ENERGY UTILIZES CONSTRUCTION COMPOSITE MATS TO PROVIDE ACCESS THROUGH AREAS
PRIOR TO LAND DISTURBANCE.
SUCH AS WETLANDS AND WATERBODIES, AGRICULTURAL FIELDS, AND OTHER AREAS AS DETERMINED

NO WASTE, SPOIL, SOLIDS, OR FILL OR ANY KIND SHALL OCCUR IN WETLANDS OR WATERS BEYOND THE

THE USE OF COMPOSITE MATS MAY GENERALLY NOT CONSTITUTE SOIL DISTURBANCE OR A CHANGE IN

ALL MECHANIZED EQUIPMENT OPERATED NEAR SURFACE WATERS OR WETLANDS SHALL BE REGULARLY
HYDROLOGY. THEREFORE, THE INSTALLATION OF COMPOSITE MATS ACCESS ROADS AND WORK AREAS
INSPECTED AND MAINTAINED TO PREVENT CONTAMINATION OF WATERS AND WETLANDS FROM FUELS,
IS NOT CONSIDERED A REGULATED LAND -DISTURBING ACTIVITY.
LUBRICANTS, HYDRAULIC FLUIDS OR OTHER POTENTIAL TOXIC CHEMICALS. CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE STAGED
IN ORDER TO MINIMIZE THE EXPOSURE OF EQUIPMENT TO SURFACE WATERS TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT
PRACTICABLE. FUELING, LUBRICATION AND GENERAL EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE SHALL NOT TAKE PLACE
WITHIN 100 FEET OF A WATERBODY OR WETLANDS TO PREVENT CONTAMINATION BY FUELS AND OILS. FUEL
SHALL NOT BE STORED WITHIN 100 FEET OF A WATERBODY OR WETLAND.
