5. INFORMATION CONCERNING UNDERGROUND UTILITIES WAS NOT AVAILABLE. IT
SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR TO DETERMINE THE
EXACT LOCATIONS AND ELEVATIONS OF ALL EXISTING UTILITIES WITHIN WORK
AREA.
6. IF EXISTING UTILITY CONFLICTS WITH PROPOSED IMPROVEMENT INSTALLATION,
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CONTACT THE DESIGN ENGINEER BEFORE
PROCEEDING WITH CONSTRUCTION.

11. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE ANY REQUIRED TRAFFIC CONTROL
WITH COUNTY AND/OR NCOOT.
12. LIMITS OF CONSTRUCTION EASEMENTS AND RIGHTS -OF -WAY SHALL BE
DELINEATED WITH TEMPORARY STAKING BY THE CONTRACTOR. SAFETY

13. CLEARING AND GRUBBING OF THE SITE TO INCLUDE REMOVAL OF
STRUCTURES, GRAVEL, AND ANY OTHER FEATURES INCLUDING TREES,
SHRUBS, STUMPS, AND DEBRIS LANDSCAPE FEATURES NOT REQUIRED TO
BE CLEARED FOR CONSTRUCTION SHALL REMAIN UNLESS OTHERWISE
DIRECTED.
14. ANY FEATURES DAMAGED OR OTHERWISE DISTURBED BY THE CONTRACTOR
SHALL BE REPAIRED AT THE EXPENSE OF THE CONTRACTOR.
15. THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR CONTROLLING DUST AND EROSION
DURING CONSTRUCTION AT HIS EXPENSE. PARKING AREAS SHALL BE
WATERED TO CONTROL DUST WHEN DIRECTED BY THE ENGINEER
16. NO WARRANTY IS MADE FOR THE SUITABILITY OF THE SUBGRADEE,
UNDERCUT AND ANY REQUIRED REPLACEMENT WITH SUITABLE MATERIAL

EROSION 8c SEDIMENTATION CONTROL PLAN FOR
THE GROVE SUBDIVISION ACCESS ROAD
CONSTRUCTION SEQUENCE:
1. OBTAIN PLAN APPROVAL AND NECESSARY PERMITS FOR GRADING.
2. SCHEDULE PRE -CONSTRUCTION MEETING WITH CONSULTANT, CONSTRACTOR
AND LOCAL EROSION CONTROL INSPECTOR.
J. STAKE/FLAG CLEARING LIMITS AND SILT FENCE LOCATIONS
4. INSTALL SILT FENCE DOWNSTREAM FROM AREAS TO BE CLEARED, ONLY
CLEARING WHAT IS NECESSARY TO INSTALL SILT FENCE.
5. CALL FOR INSPECTION AND COMMENCE CLEARING UPON APPROVAL.
6. BEGIN STRIPPING AND ROUGH GRADING OF ROADWAY,• INSTALL PIPE
CULVERTS WITH PIPE INLET PROTECTION.
Z INSTALL CHECK DAMS AND WATTLES IN SWALES AS FINISHED GRADE IS
APPROACHED.
& STABILIZE ALL BARE SOIL ACCORDING TO TIMELINES AND GUIDELINES

PROJECT NARRA TI VE:
THE GROVE SUBDIVISION PLAN CONSIST OF SUBDIVIDING AN EXISTING PARCEL
INTO LOTS GREATER THAN OR EQUAL TO 10 ACRES (EXEMPT S/D). THE NEW
LOTS WILL REQUIRE AN ACCESS ROAD THAT WILL REQUIRE CLEARING,
GRUBBING, GRADING, DRAINAGE AND EROSION CONTROL.
THE MAIN GOAL OF THIS EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL PLAN IS TO
PREVENT INITIAL EROSION OF SOIL PARTICLES; TO REDUCE SEDIMENTATION TO
WHAT CAN BE CONTROLLED WITH WATTLES AND ROCK CHECK DAMS IN
CHANNELS BEFORE SEDIMENT CAN LEAVE THE SITE CONSTRUCTION WILL NOT
TAKE LONG AND WILL REDUCE CHANCES OF SIGNIFICANT SEDIMENTATION. THE
PROPOSED CHANNELS WILL STORE SEDIMENT AND BE MAINTAINED FOLLOWING
EACH RAINFALL EVENT. AREAS WILL BE SEEDING & MULCHED TEMPORARILY
AND PERMANENTLY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE TO PREVENT EROSION, EROSION
CONTROL BLANKETS WILL BE USED AS NECESSARY TO REDUCE SEDIMENT
ACCUMULATION.
PERMANENT ROCK CHECK DAMS WILL BE INSTALLED TO SLOW WATER IN
STEEPER CHANNELS HOMEOWNERS WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR MAINTENANCE.
MAINTENANCE PLAN
1. ALL MEASURES ARE TO BE INSPECTED WEEKLY AND AFTER ANY
RAINFALL, REPAIRS MADE IMMEDIATELY IF NECESSARY.
2 SEDIMENT IS TO BE REMOVED FROM SWALES AND DIVERSIONS WHEN
THEY ARE APPROX. 509' FILLED OR WHEN SEDIMENT LEVEL IS WITHIN
1.0' OF TOP OF BANK
J. SEDIMENT IS TO BE REMOVED FROM SILT FENCE AND INLET PROTECTION
MEASURES WHEN 0.5' DEEP, FABRIC AND STONE TO BE REPAIRED AS
NEEDED TO MAINTAIN A SEDIMENT BARRIER.
4. SEEDED AREAS SHALL BE FERTILIZED, MULCHED, AND RE -SEEDED AS
NECESSARY, ACCORDING TO THE SPECIFICATIONS PROVIDED, TO
MAINTAIN A SUITABLE VEGETATIVE COVER.
5. THE CONSTRUCTION ENTRANCE SHALL BE MAINTAINED IN SUCH A
MANNER AS TO PREVENT MUD OR SEDIMENT FROM LEAVING THE
CONSTRUCTION SITE; TOP DRESSING WITH 2-INCH STONE MAY BE
REQUIRED.
6. IMMEDIATELY REMOVE SEDIMENT SPILLED, WASHED, OR TRACKED ONTO
PUBLIC ROADWAYS
Z INSPECT SEDIMENT BASINS AS DIRECTED, REMOVE SEDIMENT FROM
ENTIRE BASIN AND RESTORE BASIN TO ORIGINAL DIMENSIONS WHEN
SEDIMENT ACCUMULATES TO ONE-HALF THE BASIN DEPTH, INSPECT
OUTLET TO ENSURE IT IS PROPERLY FUNCTIONING.
& IF SKIMMER/OUTLET IS CLOGGED WITH TRASH, DISLODGE BY JERKING
THE ROPE UP AND DOWN OR PULL SKIMMER TO SIDE OF BASIN AND
REMOVE DEBRIS BY HAND, INSPECT ORIFICE.
9. REMOVE SEDIMENT FROM BEHIND BAFFLES ONCE ACCUMULATION HAS
REACHED ONE-HALF THE HEIGHT OF THE FIRST BAFFLE, REPLACE
BAFFLES PROMPTLY IF THEY COLLAPSE, TEAR, DECOMPOSE, OR BECOME
INEFFECTIVE
10. INSPECT CHECK DAMS AS DIRECTED AND CLEAR STONE OF DEBRIS AND
ACCUMULATED SEDIMENT,• TAKE CARE NOT TO DAMAGE OR UNDERCUT
THE STRUCTURAL STONE DURING SEDIMENT REMOVAL, REPLACE
SEDIMENT STONE AS NEEDED.
11. REFER TO MAINTENANCE SPECIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS IN THE
NORTH CAROLINA "EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL PLANNING AND
DESIGN MANUAL."
STOCKPILE NOTES
1. A 25-FOOT TEMPORARY MAINTENANCE AND ACCESS EASEMENT SHALL
BE MAINTAINED AROUND ALL PROPOSED STOCKPILES, EROSION CONTROL
MEASURES SURROUNDING THE STOCKPILE SHALL BE SHOWN AT THE
OUTER LIMIT OF THE EASEMENT.
2 STOCKPILE FOOTPRINTS SHALL BE SETBACK A MINIMUM OF 25' FROM
ADJACENT PROPERTY LINES
J. STOCKPILE HEIGHT SHALL NOT EXCEED 35 FEET.
4. STOCKPILE SLOPES SHALL BE 2:1 OR FLATTER.
5. APPROVED MEASURES SHALL BE USED TO CONTROL SEDIMENT LOSS
FROM STOCKPILE.
6. STOCKPILING OF MATERIALS ADJACENT TO A CHANNEL, DRAINAGEWAY,
WATERCOURSE, WETLAND, STREAM BUFFER, OR OTHER BODY OF WA TER
SHALL BE AVOIDED UNLESS AN ALTERNATIVE LOCATION IS
DEMONSTRATED TO BE UNAVAILABLE.
Z ANY CONCENTRATED FLOW LIKELY TO AFFECT THE STOCKPILE SHALL BE
DIVERTED TO AN APPROVED MEASURE.
