1. Staging is only restricted during periods when the road is open to traffic. During total road closures all
paved areas may be used for staging. Remove materials and return staging areas to a usable condition
before the road opens.
During the periods when the road is open, limit active staging areas to the parking areas and
pull -offs that are already paved. Acquire approval from the CO prior to their use as a staging
area. A maximum of three parking areas or pull -offs may be used at any one time.
Staging is not permitted in the following areas:
-' - Weather Station Parking
- Road Prong Parking Area
_ - Spruce Fir Nature Trail
- Fork Ridge Parking Area
- Clingmans Dome Road Primary Parking
- Collins Gap Parking at MM 4.7 (Left)
2. Additional staging is available at gravel pullout at MM 16 (Left) on Newfound Gap Road.
3. Place ultra -thin bonded wearing course on all parking areas and pull -offs located along
' Clingmans Dome Access Road
- 4. See the contraction plans for more information on pavement patch areas and miscellaneous
work. Coordinate with the CO to mark the begin and end of pavement patching limits in the field.
5. See Summaries and Schedules sheets for more information on miscellaneous work including
but not limited to traffic loop replacement and replacement of existing roadway gates.
6. All borrow and waste must come from or go to a permitted site or facility.
