We have a significant backlog of NPDES industrial stormwater individual permit renewals. Within the next month, a new person who will focus on this task will join our team. Hopefully, with this additional staff member, we will be able to catch up in the next year or two. In the meantime, Matheson Tri-Gas is allowed to continue discharging under the current expired NCS000462 permit as long as they remain current on their stormwater permit fees and comply with the other provisions of the permit. Please let me know if you have questions. They applied for a renewal of their stormwater permit in 2017. Via electronic mail in 2018, the Department indicated that the application was in-house, but that the Department was backlogged and it had not been reviewed (correspondence is attached). Additionally, Matheson has regularly checked the NC DEQ Maps & Permits website to check the status of the permit application. The project type had indicated it was "renewal" and the current status was listed as "in review'. However, today the website indicates that the permit status is "expired". May you please provide an update on this permit, as well as, let us know if anything additional is needed? Thank you for your time. Amanda J. From: Bennett, Bradlev To: Andy Nunnery Subject: RE: [External] Matheson Tri-Gas NCS000462 Date: Wednesday, July 25, 2018 8:53:27 AM Andy, As we discussed earlier today the Matheson Tri-Gas facility has made their renewal application to NCDEMLR and we do have the application in-house. We currently have a pretty large backlog of individual permit renewals in-house and we have not yet started on this renewal. In the interim the facility continues to be covered by their by their previous permit and they should abide by those permit conditions.
