SUBJECT: NPDES Permit #NCS000101: Change in Industrial Activities
Dear Brian:
International Paper (IP) is planning a change in industrial activities in one of the outfalls in the
SWPPP. Due to current global transportation issues and customer demand, IP needs to stage
approximately 100 more shipping containers at the mill. We plan to store the additional containers in
Basin P of the SWPPP. Basin P is south of the mill, on the east side of the mill road; see the
attached SWPPP drawing. Basin P is currently a laydown yard used for maintenance materials
storage; the east side of the laydown yard drains into adjacent Basin K. The containers will be
stored in the west and south part of the lot. A drawing of the revised Basin P is also attached,
showing the location of the proposed container storage. Maintenance of the area will be adjusted as
needed to maintain existing BMPs, and to protect runoff quality. I would like to meet with you in the
next week if possible to discuss this proposed change. You are welcome to come to the mill to see
the area in person, or I would be happy to meet you in your office, or I can set up a Webex meeting,
at your convenience. Please let me know your preferred meeting place, date and time. I am
