Permit No. NCS000259 MAR 0 7 2019 CENT -VEAL FILE, DN1R SECTIOA1 Attached are two copies of the AkzoNobel monitoring results for the period of January 1, 2019 to June 30, 2019 for our permit # NCS000259 for the samples collected January 24, 2019. On February S, 2619 AkzoNobel received sample results of the January 24, 2019 sampling event. Upon review of the analytical results, outfall SW2 was in exceedance of Toluene. AkzoNobel notified NCDEQ Brendan Wise via phone call of the Winston Salem Office within 24 hours of the exceedance as per the Individual Stormwater Monitoring Permit. During the conversation, Mr. Wise stated that SW2 should be managed under Tier 1. AkzoNobel immediately started an investigation which included Henkel. Upon the initial investigation, it was observed that there were drums of Toluene stored on Henkel property in an unprotected area that may have contributed to the exceedance. Henkel responded by removing the suspect drums. According to Henkel, one drum remains in the area on secondary containment. This drum will be removed in March upon completion of a new raw material staging area. When this is completed, the handling of Toluene will not be conducted in this area. The investigation is still ongoing and a facility wide Stormwater inspection has been completed by Akzonobel. Any questi on this submittal yay contact me at 704-633-1731.
