RVacation Campground - Pump Station & Forcemain Selma, Johnston County, NC MacConnell & Associates's Project No.: A69201.00 Dear Mr. Smith: 1101 Nowell Road Suite 118 Raleigh, NC 27607 Fox 919-319-6510 C Dept of Environmental Quality AUG 2 8 26t Raleigh Regional Office Please find enclosed a fast track application and supporting information for a new pump tank, forcemain, gravity collection system, and upgrade of an existing 4" PVC gravity sewer line. The proposed gravity collection system, manhole, 2500-gal pump tank, and forcemain will serve the new sixty (60) RV camp sites at 428 Campground Rd in Selma, North Carolina. The new camp site has a design flow of 6,000 GPD. The manhole will collect the effluent from the gravity collection system which will then flow by gravity to the pump tank with duplex 2-HP grinder pumps. The duplex pump station and approximately +/-660 linear feet of forcemain meet the requirements of 15A NCAC 02T and the "Minimum Design Criteria for the Permitting of Pump Stations and Forcemain". The gravity sewer collection system will serve the new sixty (60) RV camp sites and meets the requirements of 15A NCAC 02T and the "Minimum Design Criteria for the Permitting of Gravity Sewers." Approximately +/- 300 linear feet of existing 4" PVC gravity sewer line will be upgraded to a 6" PVC prior to discharging to the collection manhole at the Town of Selma pump station. This portion of the sewer line is located in a wetland; therefore, the 10' separation from the wetlands requirements per 15A NCAC 02T and the "Minimum Design Criteria for the Permitting of Gravity Sewers" will not be met. To meet the requirements for an alternative design, the new 6" line shall be watertight and pressure rated at 30 psi in accordance with 15A NCAC 18C. It will be located in the same location as the existing 4" PVC gravity sewer line and the buffer tank will be removed. Please call me if you have any questions. Attached to this letter are necessary documentation for the Fast Track Application which are as follows: • Project Narrative • Fast Track Application (FTA 04-I6) • Flow Tracking Sewer Extension (FTSE 10-18) • Existing Easement • Documentation for Registration for business with North Carolina Secretary of State • USGS Topographic Map of area for proposed construction • Drawings and details for proposed construction with existing sanitary sewer manhole shown. • Specifications for proposed construction. Perdue, P.E. Subject: Pump Station and Forcemain Project No.: A69201.00 428 Campground Rd., Selma, NC 1101 Noirell Road Suite 118 Raleigh, NC 27607 Fax 919-319-6510 RVacation Campground is expanding its campground with 60 new campsites. The new campsites will produce up to 6,000 gallons per day (60 campgrounds with water and sewer hookups* 100 galicampsite = 6,000 GPD, per 15A NCAC 02T .0114 (c)) of domestic wastewater. Actual values may vary based on the number of campsites occupied at a given time. The new campsites will discharge to a 6" PVC gravity sewer that includes a collection manhole, 2500-gallon pump tank, and a 2" SCH 40 PVC forcemain. The pump tank will utilize a duplex alternating pumping system with Myers VF20 Series 2-hp grinder pumps. The 2" forcemain will discharge to an existing 6" PVC gravity sewer line on -site that eventually discharges to a Town of Selma sanitary sewer manhole. A portion of the existing gravity sewer downstream from the 2" forcemain connection currently consists of approximately 300 linear feet of 4" PVC with a buffer tank. This portion of the gravity sewer will be replaced with a watertight 6" PVC gravity line and the buffer tank will be removed. The original sewer system for the site was installed in the 1970s and is not permitted. The pump tank will contain a minimum of 18-inches of head above the pump inlet, one dose between the lead pump turns on, 2.5 doses between the lead pump on and lag pump on, and one dose between lag pump on and emergency storage capacity. One dose will be 120.63 gallons with a pump run time of 4.58 minutes, a pump cycle time of 11.82 minutes, and 5.08 pumping cycles per hour. The site will be equipped with a 20-kw emergency generator with automatic transfer switch; therefore, a minimum of 4 hours of emergency storage will be required in the pump tank. With a 6,000 GPD flow rate, 4 hours of emergency storage will be 1,000 gallons. The total emergency storage provided in the design is 1,007 gallons. An audible and visual alarm will be installed and tripped when the emergency storage is used. The existing 4" PVC line that will be upgraded is located in a wetland area; therefore, the 10' separation requirements of 15A NCAC 02T and the "Minimum Design Criteria for the Permitting of Gravity Sewers" will not be met. In order to meet the requirements for an alternative design, the replacement 6" PVC pipe shall be watertight and be able to maintain a pressure of 30 psi, in accordance with 15A NCAC 18C. The existing line is to be capped, abandoned, and replaced by the 6" PVC line which will be located next to the existing 4" PVC line. The buffer tank will be removed. These upgrades will eliminate any back-up that was previously occurring in the buffer tank as well as meet the pipe design requirements for the sanitary sewer system. With permission from Johnston County, RVacation Campground will construct the proposed collection system, pump station, forcemain, and upgraded sewer line. 1 Cashion, Ted From: Cashion, Ted Sent: Wednesday, October 02, 2019 10:39 AM To: Robinson, Jason; tapmacassoc@bellsouth.net Cc: Tony T; Deck, Erin M Subject: RE: RE: RVacation Campground Pump Station and Forcemain fast track sewer extension application Thomas, Pis supply the correct downstream sewer permit number in item V.1 of the application.
