WWTF was conducted on September 18, 2019. The purpose of the evaluation was to verify that the facility is operating in compliance with the conditions and limitations specified in Permit WQ0013676. Donald Omara (ORC) and wife, Karrie Omara, were present during the inspection. The system has been documented as having monitoring wells located around the 5-day holding pond as well as around the three irrigation lakes/ponds. According to Don Omara, all these monitoring wells have been properly abandoned by licensed well driller(s). Also the irrigation lakes/ponds (e.g. Egret Lake, Coral Pond and Westport IV Pond) have been disconnected from the irrigation system and the pump station located near Egret Lake is no longer utilized. Any irrigation water is either pumped from the 135,000 gallon holding tank at the WWTF or from an irrigation well located near the northwest corner of Coral Pond. Manual valves must be operated near the irrigation well to direct flow from the well or the holding tank. The audible alarm at the influent pump station was not operational during the visit and needs to be repaired. Reminded operator that Well #3 for The Town of Pine Knoll Shores is located at the southwest corner of the parking lot between the tennis courts along Coral Drive, west of Murex Drive. Advised operator to ensure that reclaimed water irrigation heads within 100 feet of well are not being used. The facility is compliant with the non-discharge permit WQ0013676. Please review the comment sections of the inspection report for more details.
