Explain the purpose of the proposed project:* Greybeard Trail is a public right of way. The roadway is an ebsting 17-foot wide (appro)dmate) paved surface with varying shoulder width abutting Flat Creek. The road is currently being protected from the creek by a failing boulder wall. The roadway and shoulder is being undermined by the creek. The ebsting damaged portion of the boulder wall Will be removed in the area of the undermining and vnll be replaced with a gabion wall. 4i. Describe the overall project in detail, including indirect impacts and the type of equipment to be used:* The stream will be temporarily diverted per the plan detail (or similar) and the damaged portions of the boulder wall will be removed. The gabion wall will be installed per the plan details, the shoulder will be restored, and the roadway will be repaired. 4j. Please upload project drawings for the proposed project. 21933 Current Set 2019-09-18.pdf 10.38MB 5. Jurisdictional Determinations 5a. Specifically describe measures taken to avoid or minimize the proposed impacts in designing the project: The existing boulder wall is nearly vertical and the road shoulder width varies from 0-8 feet. A nearly vertical gabion wall design was selected to minimize impact to the stream and allow the road shoulder to be re-established at as safe a width as possible without narrowing the stream bed. 1 b.
