The North Carolina Division of Water Resources conducted an inspection of the Shawboro Elementary
School on 7/18/2019. This inspection was conducted to verify that the facility is operating in compliance
with the conditions and limitations specified in Non -discharge Permit No. WQ0031030. The findings and
comments noted during this inspection are provided in the enclosed copy of the inspection report
entitled "Compliance Inspection Report".

Inspection Summary
On July 18, 2019, Sarah Toppen, Robert Tankard, and Megan Davis from NCDEQ DWR was present for a compliance
inspection. Also, on -site was Matt Mullins with Currituck County Schools and Randall Marr with EnviroTech.
The middle pump in the chemical feed room was burnt and no longer working. Let us know when the pump has been
replaced.
The staff gauge was hard to read in the infiltraton basin. The freeboard in the basin shall be recorded weekly and measured
to the nearest inch or tenth of a foot. For more information on thi5look in the current permit number 6, section IV. Monitoring
and Reporting Requirement.
MW-2 and PZ-3 was observed locked and tagged. Keep grass mowed around wells for easier access for inspecting and
sampling.
Also, look at the questions following this summary for more details.
The facility is in noncompliance at the time of inspection due to monthly exceedences of Total Nitrate Nitrogen. The School
board is currently working with the Engineering firm, EnviroTech and the ORC with EnviroTech to keep this parameter down
under the limit.
