PROJECT SUMMARY: Applicant proposes to clear stumps, grade, and stabilize area with grass for the development of 5 residential lots. , Thomas J. Harrsion - Mackey's Ferry Landing Roper Washington County Project setting The project site is located off SR 1322 in the Mackey's Ferry Landing Subdivision near Roper, Washington County, North Carolina on the Albemarle Sound. The project site is an undeveloped/unimproved ::1:5.0 acre tract that suffered timber damaged by Hurricane Isabel in September of2003. The damaged timber was felled in November 2003. There is a ::1:1.0 acre of404 wooded wetlands on the eastern half of the tract. The property on the west side and east side of the proposed project site both contain private individual residences. The only man made feature on the project site is a drainage ditch that flows from the paved road into the wooded wetlands on the east side of the tract. The Albemarle Sound is classified as SB by the Environmental Management Commission at the project site. The Albe!Jlarle Sound is Coastal waters and is not open to shell fishing. Project description The applicant proposes to clear tree stumps, grade, and stabilize the area with grass for the development of 5 residential lots. The applicant also proposes to fill the man made drainage ditch that flows from the paved road into the 404 wetlands. The 404-wetland areas on the eastern part of tract are proposed to be left undisturbed. Anticipated impacts The project as proposed will result in a total land disturbance of approximately 4.12 acres along the Albemarle Sound.
