TY September 18, 2019 Mr. Joe Corporon THENCDEQ, Division of Water Resources W O OT E N Water Quality Permitting Surface Water Protection Section-NPDES COMPANY 512 N. Salisbury Street, 9th Floor-Archdale Building RECEIVED Raleigh,North Carolina 27604 Re: NPDES Permit Renewal - additional notes SEP 2 7 1019 NPDES Permit No. NC0020605 NCDEQIDWRINPDES Town of Tarboro,North Carolina Dear Mr. Corporon: On May 17, 2019, we submitted a NPDES permit renewal on behalf of the Town of Tarboro. Since that submittal the Town installed a second ultrasonic meter to measure flow at the end of the second chlorine contact train. This allows adding the flow from the two ultrasonic meters to provide a total effluent flow. The NPDES permit allows reporting of influent or effluent flow. This change allows the Town to report effluent flow, if so desired by the Town. In addition, the Town has purchased five (5) floating aerators to replace the existing four (4) floating aerators in the sludge holding lagoon. The existing sludge holding lagoon is used to store already digested sludge until it is land applied and is not considered a treatment unit. A new brand of aerator (i.e. "Blue Frog") is being purchased with the aim of lowering energy costs and reducing maintenance requirements due to the features of the new aerators. A manufacturer sheet on the Blue Frog unit is attached. Four of the five aerators would be adjacent to former location of the existing aerators and the fifth in the center of the basin. Neither of these changes constitutes any change in any treatment process in terms of meeting permit limits. If you should have any questions about the renewal applications, please contact our office at(252) 757-1096.
