This inspection was conducted to determine whether the facility is being operated and maintained in compliance with Permit No. WQ0032016. The facility appeared to be in compliance with the permit; however, there are some maintenance items that the permittee needs to address to maintain the system in compliance. Zone 3: Currently a leak in zone 3. Staff are not using the zone until a the drip line is repaired. EQ basin high level floats and audible and visual alarm were tested and operable at the time of the inspection. No remote notification system installed at the facility. PLC will flash alarm and shut the system down; however, staff have to be in the building to see this notification. Recommend remote telemetry and/or an audio/visual alarm on the exterior of the building. Irrigation Field & Cover Crop: Several of the fields have significant weeds and briars. The intended crop for this system is fescue hay. Please note, having a different crop changes the nutrient uptake rate. The irrigation field should be mowed and grass should be reestablished as the dominate species. Maintaining the field in optimal condition also allows for easier system maintenance. Generator: The generator belts have been inoperable since the last inspection. Mr. Barr indicated the generator has been assessed by Maybin’s to determine what repairs can be made. It was noted, at the time of the inspection, the generator can be operated if absolutely necessary; however, in its current state its operability does not appear to be reliable. It is recommended a permanent repair be made or the generator be replaced to prevent an upset or bypass during an extended power outage. Wash-down Water: Recommend providing some means of water to the facility to maintain system components within the building. Current pump setup does not provide enough water pressure. Water Intrusion: The WWTP building’s floor stays saturated and often under water. A sump may be needed to move water away from the building. Recommend addressing this issue to allow continued access and optimal performance of all equipment.
