Our response below is regarding the permit exceedances for BOD 5-day, and Fecal Coliform for the month of July 2019. There had been grease buildup present in pipes causing them to break loose. This in turn caused an unanticipated surge in both flow and grease. This would cause mild loss of pinfloc to tertiary resulting in higher than normal BOD readings. The exceedance of Fecal Coliform on July 17 was due to a squirrel perishing in the contact chamber. This depleted the chlorine residual causing a spike in the Fecal results. Unfortunately the carcass was not discovered immediately. As stated before, Henderson's Assisted Living is making a considerable investment to improve their plant in order to ensure proper operation. Once the plant is able to regain a healthy state, we are in hopes the WWTP will begin operating in compliance with their permit It is our understanding that they are preparing to break ground on October 14a', with an anticipated completion date of October 24". It is always our goal to remain in compliance with regulations sey forth by the Division of Water Resources. It is our request that their action in the matters be taken into account by the Division when enforcement action is taken.
