Inspection Summary:
Mikal Willmer, with the Asheville Regional Office spoke with City of Hendersonville's Utilities Director, Lee Smith on
September 23, 2019. A site visit was not conducted since there has been no change in residuals management from the
previous compliance inspection in 2016. A compliance evaluation inspection will be conducted in late 2020 or if a permit
modification is requested, whichever is sooner.
Mr. Smith indicated the City is having their contracted engineer explore all possible Class A distribution options, other than
alkaline stabilization, before moving forward. The current plan is to have a finalized option in the next year or two. Due to the
facility location, alkaline stabilization is not ideal. Growth projections do not indicate a need for an increase in distribution
amounts.
Until a finalized plan is implemented, the City will continue to haul residuals to Two Chimneys Landfill in South Carolina.
