List the total estimated acreage of all existing wetlands on the property: 0 4g. List the total estimated linear feet of all existing streams on the property: 0 4h. Explain the purpose of the proposed project:* Primary dune along NC 12 was severely eroded during Hurricane Dorian on Ocracoke Island, exposing the roadway of NC 12 to the ocean. Project would restore the beach to the prestorm profile in two areas of severe erosion to protect the roadway repair activities and the installation of temporary sand bags. 4i. Describe the overall project in detail, including indirect impacts and the type of equipment to be used:* The beach in the two areas of severe erosion would be restored to the pre -storm profile. The storm washed away the beach in these areas, and NCDOT proposes to restore a total of approximately 41,443 sq. ft. of beach with approximately 2,080 yards of sand from the South Dock dredge spoil site. The beach elevation would match the elevation of the existing adjacent beach. If the beach naturally accretes before beach restoration is complete, NCDOT would reduce or eliminate beach restoration activities. 4j. Please upload project drawings for the proposed project. Impact Justification and Mitigation 1. Avoidance and Minimization 1a. Specifically describe measures taken to avoid or minimize the proposed impacts in designing the project: Beach will be restored to the pre -storm profile and limited to the storm eroded area of the roadwiay washout. 1b. Specifically describe measures taken to avoid or minimize the proposed impacts through construction techniques: All work will occur during daylight hours to minimize impacts to hatching sea turtles in the vicinity. Work will not be permitted within 300 feet of observed sea turtle nests. Fill material WWI be hauled in from the South Dock dredge spoil site. 2.
