Inspection Summary:
Mikal Willmer, with the Asheville Regional Office, conducted a compliance evaluation inspection of the City of Marion's
DCAR program on September 16, 2019. This inspection was conducted to determine whether the program is being operated
and maintained in compliance with Permit No. WQ0031674. Ben Worley (Chief Operator) was present and assisted in the
inspection.
The facility has not distributed residuals in approximately four or five years. Mr. Worley indicated both alum ponds could be
dredged for distribution this year. The City of Marion contracts Southern Soil Builders to distribute the Class A product to
local farmers as a soil amendment. The permit, O&M Plan and Spill Response plan are maintained onsite. All sampling is
performed by SSB before distribution events occur.
Residuals analyses will be reviewed when the 2019 Annual Report is submitted if distribution occurs.
