William Rayner Carteret County Project Setting The project site is located in the Newport River east of Mill Point Lane, Carteret County, North Carolina. The lease site is 6.57 acres, is rectangular in shape and is positioned in a NE/SW alignment. Newport River is classified as SA;HQW by the Environmental Management Commission and is open to shellfrshing. There are no SAV in the footprint of the pilings. Project Description The applicant proposes to install (4) 6" pilings to mark an approved shellfish lease. The lease is located in the Newport River, locate on a map west of Country Club Road and Blair Point, Morehead City, NC. Specifically, the request is to mark the four corners of the lease with 6 inch diameter wood pilings. The pilings will be properly marked as required by the NC Division of Marine Fisheries Shellfish Leasing Program and will extend greater than 4' above the high-water line.
