Additional spot treatment will be needed for kudzu and multi -flora rose in this section. The lower section of UT -1 still needs significant kudzu treatment on river right with some spot treatment of kudzu vines on river left. Good baseflow was observed throughout the reach. No significant rainfall in the past 2 weeks. No channel stability issues observed. Continue to visually monitor upper reach to determine if stream channel is maintained or if area becomes a wetland area. UT -2 - Good baseflow observed throughout the reach despite the recent dry conditions. No channel stability issues observed. Spot treatment for invasives recommended. UT -3 - No channel stability issues observed. Annual pine tree treatment needed to prevent mono -culture of pine trees throughout reach. Continue to monitor 2018 supplemental plantings for survival. General Notes: Brett to follow up with invasive management company under contract with SAHC to clarify methods and schedule. Corps and DWR want to confirm that treatment method doesn't kill off the desirable native woody vegetation. Brett to reach out to Buncombe County Soil and Water to remind them of their long-term steward responsibilities upon project closeout and to verify financial assurances. Project will not be closed out until the agencies are comfortable that the kudzu issue has been resolved. SAHC will need a full growing season post treatment to demonstrate this. Agencies plan to revisit the site in September 2020.
