The sewer collection system will Iransport wastewater from the US 42) corridor to the existing Cape Fear Public Utility Authority (CFPUA) pump station 12 (PS12) located on Cowan Street in Wilmington. PS 12 will be used to convey the US 421 wastewater to the Noilhside Wastewater Treatment Plant (W W7-P). The server system will consist of a collection system and a conveyance system that will be broken out into 3 bid sections for construction. Each bid section is associated with one of the there pump stations proposed for this project. The bid sections may be constructed all at once or separately as funding becomes available. If all of the bid sections are not constructed together, they will be constructed in numerical order. Bid Section I consists of a 6-inch low pressure header that will collect wastewater along the western side of US 421 and discharge into the ttet well of one of the three pump stations, which will be constructed near 4600 US-421, Wilmington, NC (PS2). PS2 will convey the wastewater from the low pressure heade, and additional wastewater that will be contributed to the system by the inf astiucture in Bid Section 2, to PSI 2 via 27.000 LF of 8-inch diameter force main and two previously installed 8-inch pipelines BUILDING A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE` Wne 15.)C 7S`A,12 CFPUA 421 Water & wastewater Utilities Project constructed beneath the Northeast Cape Fear River during the Flemington Water Transmission Main and Se%yei Force Midns project. The entire sewer system pernutted herein will ultimately discharge to the CFPUA's PS 12. Design of this infrastructure was based on the Preliminary Engineering Report prepared by McKim & Creed in March of 2016 (PER). The PER predicts that sites along the US 421 corridor, which are currently without access to wastewater collection, will produce 660,000 GPD of wastewater by 2040 due to potential economic growth. This project seeks to install infrastructure with a capacity of the first 330,000 GPD of flow and serve the corridor until about year 2028. The expected flow is predicted to come from office/industry/manufacturing facilities. For details regarding flow demands, refer to the Description of Project Phases.
