On February 7, 2014, the Division of Energy, Mineral and Land Resources received your request to rescind
your coverage under Certificate of Coverage Number NCG080619. In accordance with your request,
Certificate of Coverage Number NCG080619 is rescinded effective immediately.
Operating a treatment facility, discharging wastewater or discharging specific types of stormwater to waters
of the State without valid coverage under an NPDES permit is against federal and state laws and could result
in fines. If something changes and your facility would again require stormwater or wastewater discharge
permit coverage, you should notify this office immediately. We will be happy to assist you in assuring the
proper permit coverage.
If the facility is in the process of being sold, you will be performing a public service if you would inform the
new or prospective owners of their potential need for NPDES permit coverage.

If any parts, measurement frequencies or sampling requirements contained in this permit are unacceptable

As per telephone conversation with Mr. Gilbert Turner, Safety / Environmental manager,
Norfolk Southern railway Company, Charlotte. The hazardous materials generated by the
subject facilities consist primarily of paint waste and spent cleaning solvents. The material is
collected and stored in 55 gallon drums. Each facility has a dedicated hazardous material storage
area.
Two contractors are used for the transport and disposal of the facilities hazardous waste,
Safety - Kleen (Laidlaw Environmental) of Columbia, S.C. and A&D Environmental of High
Point, N.C. The Intermodal facility (NCG080619) averages 2 shipments per year and the
Roadway Shop (NCG080620) averages 12 shipments per year.
