Carolina 27704 SUBJECT: Stormwater Compliance Evaluation Inspection Durham City Transit Company/Durham Area Transit Authority Permit No: NCG080649 Durham County Dear Mr. Tinsley: Dee Freeman Secretary Mack Wiggins of the North Carolina Division of Water Quality, Surface Water Protection Section, Raleigh Regional Office, conducted a stormwater compliance evaluation inspection of the Durham Area Transit Authority on June 20, 2011, at 1903 Fay Street in Durham. Your assistance was very helpful and appreciated during the inspection process. The facility was found to be in Compliance with General Permit NCG080000 at the time of this inspection. The following observations were made during the stormwater inspection: The Durham Area Transit Authority facility engages in the repair of Buses, Vans and mechanical systems. 2. The facility site has two outfalls (SDO 001 & 002). SDO 001 receives stormwater flow from parking areas, East Geer Street, North Miami Boulevard side and the left side of the facility site. SDO 002 receives stormwater flow from the front parking areas, right side of the facility and rear of the facility site. 3. Each Stormwater outfall has a stormwater retention pond BMP in place. BMPs and outfalls were assessable, well managed, clear and free of debris at the time of the inspection. Other BMPs in place on the site were pigtail booms around stormwater curb drains on the property. 4. Qualitative and Analytical monitoring was performed at the stormwater outfalls as required by NCG080000. E.I. Group, Inc. conducts and performs all stormwater sampling and analvticals. 5. The vehicle maintenance area appeared to be well maintained. All oils and liquids were secondary contained. Shop drains are connected to oil/water separators. The discharge from oil/water separators flows to sanitary sewer.
