According to GE Mebane's storm water discharge permit No. NCG030000, this facility is required to sample storm water runoff associated with the industrial activity on -site three times during the term of this permit. In accordance with the permit, an initial sample was completed within six months of the issuance of coverage. Thereafter; the permit requires -the remaining two samples to be collected during the five year permit term at intervals of greater than eighteen months and during the months of April through November. In order to fulfill the requirements of the permit, GE Mebane made arrangements with,,a third party laboratory to complete the necessary sampling during the April to November 1995 window. However, this laboratory, was unable to fulfill their commitment to conduct the sampling by December 1, 1995. Per our telephone discussion on December 4, It is GE Mebane's understanding that the division has extended the sampling window past November and that samples may be taken at any time during the year if it were not possible during the original window. Arrangements have been made with a third party lab to conduct the sampling as soon as possible. Sampling results will be forwarded to your office in a timely manner.
