Reason for Visit: Routine Comment: The outfalls were last certified as having no illicit discharges on 7/9/2012. At outfall 002, the facility has separated the non -potable water leak from the stormwater. Currently, the stormwater is pumped and the non -potable water leak is returned to the WWTP. Due to the length of time the non -potable leak has been occurring and the cost incurred by the City maintaining the current practice of separating flows, this leak is recommended to be repaired during Phase 1 on the current construction project. Currently, all non -potable water is being pumped back into the wastewater treatment plant (WATP). Due to excessive flows during rain events, the facility is considering the option of separating the stormwater before it comingles with the non -potable water. The stormwater could then be discharged through one of the facilities stormwater outfalls instead of being treated by the WVVfP. CMU is searching for the leak, and is preparing to excavate the area for an extensive investigation of the problem. The stormwater and non -potable water (determined by nitrate testing) are being pumping into an out -of -service clarifier being utilized for holding filter backwash water from the tertiary filters. The water from this basin is processed through the final clarifiers, filters, and UV disinfection for additional treatment before discharge. All outfalis are clearly numbered.
