Re: Proposed land clearing of wetlands

On 7 November 1996 you wrote the Division of Water Quality (DWQ) regarding your
plan to fill 15 acres wetlands for the purpose of cleaning out and re-excavating a branch in
Lenoir County. Your letter sought approval from DWQ to fill in these wetlands. In
addition an individual permit may be needed for this activity. You must contact the U.S.
Army Corps of Engineers (Mr. Dave Lekson at 919-975-1616) in this regard. Finally if
impacts are greater than one acre, wetland mitigation will be required by the Division of
Water Quality. Until these issues are resolved, this application is incomplete and
processing cannot begin.
