The lab who conducted our sample analysis, Pace Analytical, was unable to obtain a pH sample for the sampling period. I spoke to you on the phone and you told me we were ok to send this report on June 16, 2016 without the pH as long as when we have our next rain event we pull pH samples from all outfalls and submit them at that time. I have collected stormwater from all outfalls except SDO-1 which had no flow during this rain event. I tested the pH of each sample using a Scientific Instruments model no. IQ125 pH meter which was properly calibrated before each individual reading. We are within the allowable range for pH on all outfalls. We have exceedances for Copper in Outfalls 1, 2 and 3, and exceedances for Zinc at Outfalls 1 through 4. We were granted relief from the Tiered responses for our Copper and Zinc exceedances in January of 2015. Our improvement to the area surrounding the storm drains which lead to Outfall 3 has decreased the amount of Suspended Solids at the outfall. We were below benchmark again for this test making this the second consecutive test under benchmark. The lab who conducted the sample analysis, Pace Analytical, was unable to obtain a pH reading from our samples this test period. I contacted Mr. James Moore at the Mooresville Regional Office and he directed me to proceed with this submittal as long as when we have our next rain event we gather a pH sample from all outfalls and submit the data at that time. We have exceedances for Copper in Outfalls 1, 2 and 3, and exceedances for Zinc at Outfalls 1 through 4. We were granted relief from monthly monitoring for our Copper and Zinc exceedances in January of 2015. Our improvement to the area surrounding the storm drains which lead to Outfall 3 has decreased the amount of Suspended Solids at the outfall. We were below benchmark for this test. We have exceedances for Copper and Zinc in all outfalls. We also sampled virgin rainwater which was above benchmark in several instances for Copper and Zinc prior to being affected by ESC. We continue to maintain a Corrective Action for our exceedances of Copper and Zinc for all outfalls. We would like to request that we be given permission to return to biannual sampling. Our testing of virgin rain water has consistently shown that the rainwater we are receiving is above benchmarks for Copper and Zinc prior to being effected by ESC property. In some instances, we are essentially filtering the rainwater as it was testing lower at the Outfalls than it was as virgin rainfall. If you have questions or concerns please feel free to contact me. Division of Water Quality Attn: DWQ Central Files 1617 Mail Service Center Raleigh, NC 27699-1617 Dear Sir or Madam: Enclosed are the results of our July 2014 Storm Water Discharge Outfall Monitoring Report. All outfalls have exceeded for both Copper and Zinc. It still remains in our Environmental Management System as an Environmental Corrective Action Response. However, we continue to capture virgin rainwater in small plastic pools in the areas relating to each storm water discharge to.test the concentrations of metals in the rainwater coming to us from the sky prior to touching our property. Again, we found in all instances the virgin rainwater we captured were already exceeding our benchmarks for Copper and Zinc. Attached you will also find a short comparison analysis on Copper and Zinc concentrations of each Storm Drain Outfall with its corresponding pool. These tests will be conducted each month as we continue our efforts to reach our Environmental goals. We would appreciate any assistance you may be able to offer in meeting our goals.
