Dairy Rd. Ext.) from US 70 Bus. to US 301 in Johnston County; Federal Aid Project #.

NCDWR Project # 20081106 ver. 3

NCDOT requests the modification of the above permit in order install two driveways and
two right turn/decel lanes for a proposed development on parcels 20 and 21 as shown on
the attached plan sheets. The location of eastern most driveway aligns with the new
intersection created by tying in old Booker Dairy Road-Y5- to the new Booker Dairy
Road alignment -L-. The location of this drive is shown on the original drawings and the
only additional impacts at this location are wetland impacts associated with this
additional turn lane. The dimensions of both turn lanes are a minimal design in order to
allow right turning vehicles room to exit the through lane and safely make this right turn
movement. The second driveway is located roughly halfway in-between this intersection
and the next intersection in order to provide maximum spacing between driveways and
intersections for safety reasons. The actual driveway is located on high ground. However,
this turn lane does have wetland impacts as well. The NCDOT would like to add this
work into the ongoing construction of U-3334B for continuity and constructability
reasons. This would be an additional 0.20 ac of impacts (0.09ac of fill and 0.11 ac of MC)
to accomplish this work. A copy of North Carolina Division of Mitigation Services
acceptance letter to provide compensatory mitigation for these additional wetland impacts
is attached.
