I reviewed his daily precipitation levels ove,r the past 3 years, and have also taken time to inspect the grade around all hog houses, to ensure that all storm water is diverting away from the hog houses and the lagoon. I spoke with Mr. Carter about the importance of doing daily water line checks in all of his hog houses. I also mentioned to him that he may want to consider installing cup waters in the hog houses which would help conserve excess fresh water from entering the lagoon. Lastly, I emphasized the importance of getting his lagoon level 8 inches below stop pump between June 15th-Oc tober 31 5\ and trying to maintain that level going into hurricane season. I also went over his available PAN rates on Bermuda, and again emphasized the importance of utilizing those rates during the summer months to get his lagoon level down in preparation for hurricane season and/or a wet winter. Mr. Carter has recently added a new field, approximately a 5.0 acre pull, to his waste management plan . Mr. Carter has more than enough land available for land application.
