On June 11, 2002, staff from the Fayetteville Regional Office of the Division of Water Quality, conducted an
annual inspection of the Spell Hog Farm in Sampson County. The inspection revealed that the required weekly lagoon
levels were not being maintained on the approved forms. In addition, lagoon # 2 is the pumping lagoon and requires
a lagoon marker and weekly lagoon levels records.
The Division of Water Quality requests that the following items be addressed:
Contact a technical specialist to assist with the installation of the lagoon marker.
2. Begin maintaining the required freeboard (weekly lagoon levels) records immediately.
