(910) 483-4052 www.LKandA.com Firm License #: C-887 Narrative Included is the analysis of the expected fire flow conditions for the proposed water main extension project located in the proposed Four Sierra Ranch Subdivision located on the South side of Doc Bennet Road. There is an existing 16" Ductile Iron water main that will be tapped with an 8" main to serve the proposed Four Sierra Ranch subdivision. It is anticipated the maximum number of connections to the system will be 14 domestic services. This represents an increase in demand of approximately 3.92gpm (14 lots X 0.28gpdm/lot (400gpd/lot). The Hydrant Flow test was performed on Doc Bennett Road. A water model has been prepaivd using EPAnet 2.0 soflwaiv to evaluate the ability of the proposed system to support a minimum lire flow requirements. An exhibit map is attached with pertinent nodes labeled for reference. Three of the proposed fire hydrants were given a demand of 1000 gallons per minute (see Fire Flow Predictions below) to confirm that all nodes in the system maintain a minimum pressure of 20 psi. The results for each are summarized below as separate "runs" that represent each fire h\ drant. The water system is represented by a "Psuedo Pump" prepared using hydrant flow test data performed by PWC on July 20, 201 S. A copy of the hydrant flow data is included and is summarized below: Operating Pressure 0 gpm @ 83 psi Residual Pressure 3560 gpm @ 53 psi Calculated Flow @ 20 psi 5,314 gpm @ 20 psi Fire Flow Predictions The proposed Four Sierra Ranch —project is planned for —14 single-family lots. According to Appendix B of the 2012 North Carolina Fire Code, the development is required to maintain a minimum of 1000 gpm at 20 psi for at least one hour. A friction coefficient of C=120 is used for all pipes.
