During the weekend of June 29-30, 2019, the wastewater treatment plant blowers tripped out for reasons unknown. When staff arrived on site Monday July 1", the blowers were immediately reset, and normal air flow was returned to the plant. The blower incident (lack of air) along with higher than normal temperatures during the week of July 4tn caused us to exceed our daily and monthly ammonia limits. It should be noted that this one daily incident also caused us to exceed our monthly limit. All other wastewater monthly parameters were well within the permitted NPDES limits. • 4944 Parkway Plaza Blvd. Ste 375 9 Charlotte, North Carolina 28217 • 800-525-7990 We regret this incident occurred and have taken necessary steps to help alleviate this type of exceedance in the future. The wastewater treatment plant will be checked by on call operators during the weekends to help catch any problems that may arise. Carolina Water Service of North Carolina strives to be good stewards of the environment and the communities that we serve. We request a civil penalty not be issued due to this unusual circumstance. Should you have any further questions or if I can be of any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me at ronnie.reece@carolinawaterservicenc.com or by telephone at 828-898-4348.
