The information requested included detailed drawings and specifications of the proposed stream impacts and imperviousness calculations for the subdivision. As I mentioned on the telephone, three significant azeas containing historical artifacts have been located on the property (see attached sketch) and development has been suspended until excavation of the azeas is complete. Mr. Koenig has hired a consulting archaeologist at the direction of John Mintz from the Office of State Archaeology. Depending on what this archaeologist uncovers, some or none of the property will need to be permanently preserved. This means that the development plan could change dramatically if large areas of preservation are required. For this reason, the project engineer does not wish to invest significant time and money generating maps and designs for a subdivision plan that may be void in 3 months. It is anticipated that the archaeologist will complete work on the first area by mid- summer. If his findings aze favorable and preservation of this area is not required, then plans for development of the first phase will resume. We request that DWQ maintain the status of this project as On-Hold until the archaeologist is able to report his fmdings on the first azea. We will be happy to submit all requested information at that time. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at your convenience.
