(UNCLASSIFIED)
Emily,
We made a math error when adding up the impacts (the exhibit is correct). The impacts are as follows:
Permanent Impacts (culvert install) = 125 LF (62+63) Temporary Impacts (culvert removal/daylighting) = 34 LF
Total Stream and Ditch Impacts = 159 LF
What is the best way to make this correction to the application?
Thanks,
Beth

Beth,
Thank you for the explanation - it's important for our records to know whether it's mechanized land clearing vs. handcut
and conversion of wetland types.
Also, I noticed that the Wetland Impacts Exhibit shows 63 linear feet and 62 linear feet of intermittent stream impacts
and 34 linear feet of daylighting of the same intermittent stream; however, that would add up to be 125 linear feet of
permanent impacts (loss for our records) or if including the daylighting it would be 159 feet, not the 139 linear feet
proposed for culvert installation. I'm not seeing where the 71 linear feet of temporary impacts (culvert removal) to the
intermittent stream on the exhibit either.
Hope you have a great weekend,
Emily

Emily,
Duke Energy maintains two areas near their transmission line:
1. The right-of-way (fully cleared of trees, but not grubbed) 2. The Danger Tree Zone outside of their right of way. Duke
Energy identifies (flags) any trees that are tall enough to damage the transmission line if they would fall and removes
only those trees. Vegetation that does not threaten Duke Energy's facilities will remain.
The 0.09 acres of temporary wetland impacts is in the Danger Tree Zone. Only trees identified as tall enough to damage
the transmission line will be removed from this area. Duke Energy will then periodically evaluate this danger tree zone
and remove any trees that have grown large enough to threaten their facilities.
Hope that answers your question. Please let me know if you need any more info.
Thank you,

Good afternoon,
I appreciate you reaching out. In my review, I notice that there is 0.09 acres of temporary impacts for tree clearing. Will
this area be cut/maintained or will it be left to grow back after the project is complete?
Sincerely,
Emily

Ms. Thompson,
I'm checking in to see if you need any additional information in order to complete the review of Duke Energy's Bridgeton
115kV Substation project in Craven Co. The electronic 404 PCN was submitted on 7/11/2019. Please let me know if you
have any questions. If you are not the reviewer of this project, please let me know who I should contact.
Thank you,
Beth
