Subject:permit question at station 23+50 on Sampson RD
Hey Dave,
I spoke to Heath about the question we had yesterday about station 23+50 on Sampson Rd (copy of that plan sheet
shown below). In the permit letter, he requested 42 ft of impact at this site, and we were trying to figure out why he
didn’t request 54 ft, since that was the longer of the two pipes outlining the spring. Heath explained to me today that
the impact length wasn’t related to the pipe lengths. They were just put in place to isolate groundwater from the spring,
and actually went further into the fill, beyond the spring. The 42 ft impact request is the actual part of the spring that
we would be impacting with our fill. He requested 42 ft to cover our bases, but he thought we would impact less than
that. So, if you were to measure from the spring to the toe of our fill where the water surfaced onto the ground, it
shouldn’t be more than 42 ft. I believe Brandon said yesterday it was actually below that (I think around 35 ft).
Hope this makes sense of it all, but let me know if not. Also, thanks again for meeting with us yesterday.
Kevin
