Your contact would be Thad Valentine in the Regional Office. Thad, see the correspondence below. It sounds like the first step is to contact the inspector from the regional office to setup a site inspection, would you agree? David From: Georgoulias, Bethany[maiIto: bethanyaeoraouliasCd)ncdenr.gov] Sent: Monday, August 19, 2019 9:29 AM To: David Revoir Subject: RE: [External] NCG 030560: Engine Systems (Rocky Mount, Nash County) David, I have to confess I'm not familiar with the procedure or approvals that a facility needs to change their SIC. I do know that if they do change it and apply to have NCG03 coverage rescinded on that basis, the regional office will do an inspection (as they do with any rescission request) and determine if the activities that are continuing there should have stormwater permit coverage. Outside of the SIC, DEQ can retain an industry under NPDES through designation if there are good reasons (material exposures, past activities, potential impact to water quality, etc.), so a mere change in SIC won't ensure permit removal. It is very possible the region will agree coverage is no longer necessary. I hope this helps, Bethany Georgoulias Environmental Engineer Stormwater Program, Division of Energy, Mineral, and Land Resources N.C. Send all suspicious email as an attachment to report.spam@nc.gov Bethany- Engine Systems, Inc., has an existing NCG 030560 permit, and have asked that we inquire as to the applicability of this permit for their operations. As you know, the NCG 30000 permit is for metal fabrication and manufacturing. Engine Systems does not perform manufacturing operations, but only servicing and distribution of diesel engine power products (especially commercial diesel generators). The facility site contains more than 14,000 gallons of oil products (diesel fuel, cooling oil, and lubricating oils). They are considering changing their SIC and NAICS codes from: NAIC 335312: Motor and Generator Manufacturing NAIC 333618: Other Engine Equipment Manufacturing SIC 34: Fabricating of Metal Products to NAIC 811310: Commercial and Industrial Machinery and Equipment (except Automotive and Electronic) Repair and Maintenance SIC 7699: Repair Shops and Related Services, Not Elsewhere Classified Is NCG 30000 still the most appropriate permit for the facility?
